Devonport took 45 minutes to realise that the long ball wasnt working! Second half played mostly to feet, and should have scored at least 3 goals. Kenny missed wide from an uncontested header 5 minutes from the end, after having hit the post with a shot 10 minutes earlier.
Now we patiently await all the comments of South being supperior to the North.. What fun. Unlucky Devenport, should make an even more interesting finish to the league with no cup to worry about
top player is Kenny. but i'd suggest if he's a one man team then thats a massive blight on the rest of tasmanian soccer. to suggest 1 player, no matter how good is capable of carrying devonport to all there recent success indicates that the rest of the comp is in strife.
personally I'd suggest there are some other talented players at devonport. Kenny is just another step above and as such stands out!
congratulations devonport for being the only northern team to reach the semi finals. and as a person who does know soccer i have never seen a team that is made up of only one player. i believe like every team that has played on that surface it takes a while to adapt. anyway just need to win northern league and have another crack at the southerners becasuse looks like you are the only team from up north capable of beating a team from the south.
any chance of a post where we can discuss the proposed T League for 2013? I heard a couple of things about it last night and it seems quite interesting.
Im interested in how the NPL would be structured below it.
Also, heard Rangers were not keen, which was a suprise to me. Would be keen to hear from the big guns at Rangers as to what their thoughts are on it.
Explain to me why anyone would want to criticise Chris McKenna and/or say Devonport without him are no good!
Chris has been one of the best players over a number of years (if not the best) and most of the time not with all cylinders charged! I also recall Devonport winning lots of games without him in that time.
So let it go people and accept our good players and challenge your own to stand up and beat the quality opponent.
I also recall people saying without Snowy Devonport were no good !
And if it is Devonport trying to stir him up, STOP as it is working! LOL
T League is a fine thought until you get down to practicalities and history. Will probably end up with 8 if it goes ahead as some clubs will think twice to pay $10,000 to finance prize money and some travelling expences.Look at the Tas fotball league and go no further, just about to crumble due to costs.History has never been on our side and even the mighty financial Devonport had to pull out of the last one due to costs and I do not think this has changed since as crowd attendances are worse than what they used to be. Clubs will have to think a lot before they commit themselves.
Wouldnt say Rangers aren't keen, but I would say it is true that we would prefer things to stay as they are in the near future, we do have concerns on the long term effects of a state league on our current structures.
In saying all this, if it does get up, then obviously we would have to go for it I reckon.
Sounds like Knights raising the white flag before their clash in the next few weeks to me, since most of the comments about Devonport have obviously come from Knights people.
Not telling you how to suxk eggs but a suggestion which would help this site is that if a post that wants to have a dig at a club or person doesnt have a name attached its not posted ?
AB, i completly agree, I dont auth comments that are anon and of a negative nature, but I dont delete them, simply leave it to Nick to decide, after all, its his blog, I just assist where I can.
As for Rangers on a state league, take it from an offical post only, this is one of them, ultimatly it will lie with the board after this years AGM as they are the ones that need to have the drive passion and time to make it a reality should a state league develop, I am 100% pro state league, but club decisions are not mine alone to make, ultimatly, we will wait and see what model FFT put forward, and assess things from there.

ReplyDeleteshouldn't rely on Kenny to do everything though
ReplyDeleteOne man team is Mckenna. I heard there defence was all over the shop and same with midfield.
ReplyDeletewrite your name to all your comments Anton, not just the select few!
ReplyDeleteOlympia hit the post twice in 2nd half as well.
ReplyDeleteDevonport will still win the league

ReplyDeletenot sure what coments you think I have made?
But if you want my view on the game here it is:
should have been at least a draw by full time Devonport struggled with the ground in first half but it should have been 2-1 at half time.
Second half had Dev on top but the keeper was their best player.
And for the record I have had nothing to say bad about Devonport as I have high respect for there team and club!
So how about you put your name to the apoligy

ReplyDeleteas for people who slag off people like anton for his comments maybe they should have the guts to put their names to the comments.
ReplyDeletei have known him for a lot of years and dont think he has slagged devonport.
i am told he even made the effort to go and watch the game in hobart so in my eyes that gives him the right to give an opinion.
and reading his last comments he has got the match summary 100% correct.

ReplyDeleteyou plonker, for a bloke who "knows soccer" you really have a firm grip of it(keep it up bloke with a bit of luck it will fall off)
well done devonport on getting to the semi's. lets hope your not the only team to do well in the finals series.

ReplyDeleteIts very simple for the North.
There is a proposed 5 side from the North(3 -Lton, 2 - NW) but it could be more or less depending on submissions.
The NPL will be the reserves for the T-League sides and there will be NO NPL reserves they will be in Div 1 and the Unders will be Under 19's !

Ok I am willing to face the firing squad !

The only flag the Knights are raising is a Red,White,Blue one
