Ulverstone v Launceston United Ulverstone Showgrounds
Ulverstone will be looking to make amends for their disappointing 3-2 loss to Somerset. We will be without Callum Foote, who recieved a 3 week suspension but welcome back Dallas Baldock who has missed the past 2 games. Laun Utd are still looking for their first win of the season and will put in everything to get it this week I'm sure.

Launy City v Devonport Mitsubishi Park
The league’s new ladder leader will be looking to consolidate their position at the top with an away win over the up and down Launy City team. City will be keen for a victory to keep their finals chances looking healthy however they will have to stop the in-form Chris McKenna, who looks to be running away with the leading goal scorer’s award.
Rangers v Riverside NTCA
Rangers will be looking forward to returning to the NTCA but Adam Whitemore will have to make at least 2 changes after having 2 players sent off last week in their 1-0 win at Montello. Riverside is another team who desperately need a win to keep them upbeat about their finals chances. Can they capitalise on a weakened Rangers team?
Somerset v Prospect Cardigan Street
Somerset will buoyed by their 3-2 away win over Ulverstone last week and with a few players set to return they may pull a surprise at home and beat the high-flying Knights. Knights only lost top spot on the ladder due to a bye and they will certainly be looking to reassert their dominance over the Sharks this weekend.
Burnie – Bye
Sam Cocks has prepared the bonfire and has been practicing a stirring rendition of Kumbaya to sing to his troops.
Is Ulverstone having a bye as well Nick or do you rate it as too easy to mention!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteP.C.
McKenna isn't running away with the goal scorers title...more like he is limping away!
ReplyDeleteHa! Sorry Peter... When I cut and pasted I clearly didn't get all of it. I will fix this now. Certainly not taking Laun Utd lightly.

3 weeks? whats the go there nick i thought he only got 2 yellows ( 1 bad tackle and 1 kicking the ball away) isnt that only an automatic 1 week? that wasnt worth 3 surely?
ReplyDeleteUlvie 4-1
ReplyDeleteDevonport 4 nil
Rangers 2 nil
Knights 3-2
Yeah strange but I think he had a few choice words for the ref and perhaps some of the supporters on his way off. whether that is worth 3 weeks I don't know.

Interesting to see Schipper playing this week as his reaction in last game looked like he was dead! Hmmmmm maybe a bit of playing to get a red!
ReplyDeleteAnon 17:06. Schipper is as honest a player as you would find. Even had he been playing for a red he would have gone back on the field and finished the game had he not been injured. Check the stud marks and bruising HALF way up his leg.Another Burnie person deflecting attention from a shocking tackle definitely worthy of a red.
ReplyDeleteSchipper went off the ground you idiot
ReplyDeletegreat acting skills.
ReplyDeleteSchipper is pretty soft doesn't take much for him to have to go off.
ReplyDeleteanyone know who is out for knights this week?3 guys overseas
ReplyDeleteDerek Needs no defending, his reputation and ability set him apart from most, first time he has left the field for an impact injury in 13 years! once again, people looking to talk up something that just isnt there! nor worth bringing up, keep trying!
ReplyDeleteAre you defending him Donk? or doesn't he need defending?
ReplyDeleteJust a comment on proposed state league, I am not too worried as I believe that FFT will set it up so that within 4 years it will be southern clubs only, easy to do. This simply means that the Northern League will just go back to where we are now, HOWEVER if the clubs had any brains about their futures they would set it up like the "old days" where they have direct control of the league and only require FFT to ratify their decisions.
ReplyDeleteOf course once state league is established for 4 years there will be a huge push to go to A-League !! much easier when all the players are already playing in one area.
Nigel
Nigel, I've never heard a bigger load of nonsense in my life. Football in Tassie needs state league...sounds like your views represent those of a few clubs with limited scope for growth, have financial limitations, or feel threatened by a state league. I think you'll find that those players / clubs who have a history of having played at the highest level are all for state league. Tassie needs to catch up with other states. If we stick to how things were done in the "old days" we'd have no progress whatsoever. Bring it on!
ReplyDeleteSome people obviously think money grows on trees.
ReplyDeleteWe have been down this disastrous financial State league road twice before
bus trip from somerset to hobart $1400.00 do the maths
ReplyDeleteI don't disagree with a state league but it needs to be regional based not club based. I doubt that many of the northern clubs can financially match it with the southern based clubs and I also believe that FFT would want only southern teams to make everything work easier (for them.)
ReplyDeleteI would like to hear why you think that we "need a state league"?
Let them try it again Nigel as third time could be lucky.Devonport had to run away from it last time as it was costing too much and hardly any gate.People on the N.W. will still be happy to watch their local teams.Rangers can try it to find out and City will probably think twice as even with them money does not grow on trees.
