Burnie may be no easy beats this year
Burnie held their own tonight in round 5 of the summer cup. With both squads at full strength Burnie used the knowledge of their home ground and went into the break 2-0. After the break the more experienced Devonport out fit come out and scored 4 un-answered goals to finally win 4-2. But yet again with burnies second match against a more fancied opponent they have held their own and even in the case controlled the first half.
I will have a interview with coach cocker mid week...
In the earlier match at Cardigan st, Ulverstone were to strong for the young sharks running away with the game 8-2.

Burnie were missing five senior players tonight
ReplyDeletetop class game to watch.Burnie I understand had center back Stuart and Ashtyn Johnston missing and Devonport'McKenna only played part of the game.Burnie missed a penalty and hit the bar twice. However as Sam said Burnie tired in the last 20 minutes and for some reason ..not enough subs on the bench. The standard of the game was very good and both teams look in good shape and the young men of Burnie seam to be improving every game.

Thank you pc for your comments. If any one else out there would like to add to any info we supply please feel free too. As more about our lovely game the better.I didn't get a chance to get to any games this week so also thank you to the guys for your info a well. Muchly appreciated.
ReplyDeleteI would hope that Burnie were missing five players. They were pretty ordinary. Did they string 3 passes together?
ReplyDeleteThanks Sam ..you are doing a very good job yourself and I hope you consider the advocate writing as we do seem to have a problem every year.
ReplyDeleteAs for anonymous 04.24 I think you were watching a different game even if you were there. Both teams played very good soccer and whilst Burnie have improved a lot from their first game, Devonport should once again be favourite for the league title with an experienced team full of young talent.

PC......wat is the problem you have had every year with the advocate?
ReplyDeleteBF
Ben.. My info every year was that you were reluctant to do it and that was my reason for suggesting that to Sam.If I was wrong then my apologies.I do apreciate your efforts and if you do want to do it then there is no problem.
ReplyDeleteRegards.

who didnt play for somerset? and were full strength?
ReplyDeleteThe last few years I have had many extra commitments but with them out of the way this year I am more motivated to get the advocate to firstly publish all reports and secondly not to edit half of what I had written to free up more space for the a b c and d grade hockey reports haha. But I have spoken with them and apparently they have someone that has put their hand up from Devonport so I'll talk to him and maybe half the reports ( one do previews and one do reviews) and see how that goes. Anyhow, whatever the outcome of who does it, I and I'm sure everyone hopes they can spare a bit more space and time for the NPL and general soccer on the coast with reports and pictures, ladders and any other special stories. And Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSomerset had a few players missing including K Wells who leaves a big hole in the Sharks line up as with Casey Eaves down back. Chris Smith didn't play a full game leaving the Somerset side pretty inexperienced. Also Ulverstone was missing 3 or 4 players that will most likely push into the senior side, but were without super coach/ come striker Nick O Owen
Owen will be first picked in Ulvie seniors! Perhaps Captain even.
Deleteyes the advocate is hard to write for. i did a short period of writing for them aswell at times when ben wasnt able and they would edit out majority of what was actually written and virtually replace the full story. was very frustratiing but hopefully we can try and get a little bit of the limelight from country football.
