  1. If your confused as to the state of this table, and to why City are 3rd with 4 points after just one game, its because you get awared 3 points for drinking beers on your bye weekend, even though only 4 teams will get the bye. I am still perplexed as to who came up with this system rather than have one weekend where everyone who was yet to observe the bye sits the weekend out, not unlike the way our Aussie rules system works it out!
    Donk.

  2. Because im sure that would mean less people through the gate and less money for Launceston on that weekend...They have survived off this comp for years, as are the plans for the new clubrooms. Who ever came up with this way of running the comp should be shot

  3. i would prefer to play a game and get some match practice rather then have a week off regardless of the 3 points you get for a bye. its pre season after all, just building towards round one really

  4. Anon #3, I agree, I prefer the extra game, but there is some money on offer, and I think I speak for our team, we would like to win, rather than just compete for the sake of it, when you pay an entry fee and then every player chips in $5, it would be good to think we stand an even chance at winning the trophy and the cheque at the end. Even if we win every game from here, that may not be possible.
    Donk.

With only wanting one bye per team, and there being four rounds, how do YOU suggest it could have been done?

    1. AS I said in my earlier post, one week becomes a mass bye week where the remaining 5 teams sit the week out to serve the bye, all could still play "friendlies" that don't count for points, that way everyone plays 3 competitive matches, still get your people through the gate and most teams still get 4 guaranteed pre season matches. I cant see how it is that hard to arrange? Feel free to correct me if you see a gaping flaw in my logic anonymous..

    2. The flaw is , if you want playoffs in week 5, there are only 4 weeks to play round robin games, and if one is for a five team bye then only 3 byes have occurred previoulsy leaving one team not having a bye.

  6. The funny thing about it is, Lonny the hosts are one of those with the bye. Lonny looked OK but when push comes to shove and the real games start cant see them doing much better and the last 4 years

  7. Agele Luate looks like he will cause heaps of problems this season, in a side that can knock the ball around.

  8. From the whispers I heard around the grounds yesterday all the teams (9) were feed into the FFT rostering software and what came out the other side is what we have got!

  9. There are arguments each way, however in the end, it doesnt work out fair for all teams. In the end its a comp and Launceston did approach FFT and this is what they came up with, which is a load of rubbish.

You can techinically win say 3 out of 4 games and miss out to a side that had only won 2 games plus the 3 point bye.

Anyway it is what is for this year now
