for all those who critised the knights this year with comments such as us playing with "grandad" etc in the back line and how we will drop off the pace... well all i can say is. COP THAT. obviously we had the belief that we could win the title and played the players to suit our game, balym might be aging closer to 50 than the rest of us, but it clearly showed with a mixture of experience, mentality of working for others and not ourselves and show aggresiveness (in a positive sence) and playing our game whether being 4-0 up or 2-0 down, we can achieve results in the Northern Premier League. Well Done boys, dont forget we (you) have the play-offs still to come, it`s not over just yet J. Wilson
I remeber a few similar posts (using worse wording) coming from some "big name" Rangers players after they won their first title. Was on an old forum and most found them quite funny! I still remeber a george dale medalist asking anyone of the rangers doubters to "suck his balls".
I dont see anything wrong with what Jimmy had to say! And im not a knight!
we all love proving the doubters wrong, and in this case, nobody can argue that knights have done that and should enjoy the spoils!
anon 17:48 I don't think that ending up on the same points as another team really matters considering the Knights have the cup! Perhaps if other teams played a more direct (possibly entertaining) brand of soccer THEY would have the superior goal difference...as it stands, KNIGHTS the champs and that's all that counts...til this saturday!
I would just like to thank the many members of the footballing public that came along to watch our game at the weekend.Members of other clubs were very noticeable in what was a good crowd. Thanks to the people from Riverside,United,City even noticed a girl from Rangers youre presence certainly added to the atmosphere of the day. I personally ran out of steam and didnt perform the mad monday festivities, broke down late afternoon Sunday.More training required.Congratulations to Rangers,Devonport and Ulverstone for rounding out the top four and to all the players committee people and coaches of all teams for making 2011 the season it has been. A special mention needs to be made, Adam Whitemores appearance on saturday night to offer his congatulations... really rates.Cheers all.
Thanks for the comments from the Ranger community, even though you do not put a name to your post when you critise someone, that definately shows class. well done ranger army, well done J. Wilson
Firstly I would like to congratulate Knights on a deserved title they improved greatly from last year and worked hard for the success they achieved. So well done
However anon 22:04
you are a muppet!!!
How will the standard of the northern game ever improve if teams play direct football??? thats ridiculous If we want northern teams to start winning state premierships and at the very least see improvement in the NPL teams must play team orientated football.
and to say direct football is more entertaining is laughable . Seen Barcelona play lately???
devonport will never be offended as i believe we are a gracious team win lose or draw.
we have been involved most years in title races and the best team always comes out on top in the league so well done enjoy the celebration as champions you deserve that.
Congrats to the Knights lads. Great achievement to win your first title.
Good competitive season with the Top 3. Need the rest to take it up a notch and the League could be very competitive next year. Somerset youngsters will be better for the experience they gained this year, and John Wheeler will be better off after a full year in the coaching role. Ulverstone have got some good young players, they just need to be consistent for the full season. Riverside may struggle next year with both Hughes boys having serious knee injuries. But can never count them out. City will once again be better next year. They had a decent first half of the year but dropped off in the second half. Launceston should have got some points and won some games, but they will only do that in 2012 if they stop persisting with that ridiculous off side trap.
Good luck to the Top 4 teams in the Finals series. Lets hope one of you can make the final at Aurora and take the trophy home.
Dear 04:43,I believe you play the game suited to whats available to your club, utilising the strenghts of its players. We had one if not the quickest strikers going around so why would we hesitate in bringing the ball forward and finding our furthest foot, playing away from danger into time and space. To perservere with a certain " brand of football" because it suits the pundents limits your opportunities for success. We as coaches all coach the same attacking and defensive principals our pathways differ that is all. In closing thanks to each of the coaches for presenting your teams the best way possible and for the top four going forward good luck. Cheers, Dane Hudson.
Well Done Knights, I passed on my congrats to Bakes and others whom I had numbers for by text. Whitemore said in 2010, the team with the best defense will win the league, was definatly true in 2011 also. its a game of fine margins, hard work and some luck. looks like you guys did what you needed to do, and fair play for that. Nothing better for the league than different clubs winning titles, as that what we require for a succesfull comp longer term, rather than one team winning all the time, wont say Im happy not to be celebrating, but what can you do. Well done all involved.
James, pull your head in, I think many from NRFC wished you a heart felt good luck when you left for the UK, inspite of what has happened in the past, learn to have a little grace, and remember, these words are now in stone. Brendan Lichtendonk
totally agree with 21:25. great work Jimmy! you should be proud of the way you kept in the first half of the year! Beardo did a great job later on too...conceding 16?? goals for the season isn't bad!
was very surprised to hear that Adam went to Prospect Park and I dare say if the role was reversed that no one would've visited NTCA...but who cares...surely it's ok to be SPEWING for being runners up!
Previous comment re: playing direct soccer...it MAY NOT be the best way to play soccer in all circumstances but I think if GOAL DIFFERENCE is paramount in the last few rounds of a season as was the scenario this year then yeah, occasionally you do have to play more direct and stop "messing around with it" at the back - like some teams do! Show some intent to score (Like Barca you fool!) Plus, stop calling me a muppet...it really hurts!
Dear Anon 20:26, I would not have done what Adam did. Not through dislike or contempt but because Adam is a bigger man than me.However, given the success Rangers have had the last few years and us coming from generally mid table, and showing a little of that success, the gesture was appreciated. We are after all soccer people and in the scheme of things at least, up here, theres not very many of us. Cheers Dane Hudson.
winning a premiership is enough to shove it up any doubters. why now leave it at that, no need to sprout off about it, i think is what people are getting at about james' comment
Congratulation to knights. By the way Dane was the first to congratulate me through sms in 2009. I sms him the other night maybe he did'nt receive. Congrats Dane. Roslan Saad Singapore
Jimmy, a bit sad mate. You have friends at Rangers...myself included and you spout that crap. I'm probably one of the first people to congratulate your club (through a txt to duffy) I'm very pleased by knights progress this year, and you were deserved winners...just do yourself and the knights a favour and leave that crap within your own circle. Dane, Anton and co.... congratulations lads, well deserved. Hope you celebrated like madmen :)
Congrats to Knights firstly for the title and also Rangers and Devonport for making it a great finish to the year. Hopefully we (the North) get stuck into those Southerns this week. Good luck to all. P.s. Rangers and Knights may need to make a separate blog next year, one for all the unnecessary bickering. BF
gibbles, i dont believe my first comment was directed at anyone from rangers? it was to those who critised us as a club. but it just seems because of the History the club has with me, that club seems to think it automatically has to do with them and straight away you jump out of your seat yelling and screaming. if you do think it was directed at the club (1st comment) i apologies. but if you can't take it, don't give it out, as some (not all) like to do in the Ranger club. do i have to mention what happens to a player if they leave Rangers? 30 or so foul mouthed abussive txt messages to a 17 year old from a bunch of adults claimed to be "friendly banter"
i think direct football can still be entertaining if done correctly...the same as counter attacking...when Germany played that brand off football in the world cup they were very good to watch...Congrats to Devonport and Rangers for having a great year and just missing out...our team does not have the technical ability of Rangers but we have a great mix of talented individuals, experience and balance from defence through to the forwards...dane and anton have given the team the motivation and drive to see out this potential and a bit of luck along the way has given us the title...rangers and devonport have shown great sportmanship throughout the year and i think the npl has been a real success in 2011...
Devonport thanks again. You were gracious in defeat and showed true sportsmanship like you do every year. Staying around our club after our game when you could of gone straight home. You guys are a role model club. Congrats to your Reserves on an unbeaten season. I am unsure of the last team in any comp to go through a season winning every game.
Jimmy may i suggest you stop worrying about what is happening on this site. Surely you must have much more important things to focus on. Also, knowing plenty of the Ranger lads personally I wouldn't be surprised if you were not entirely blameless in respect to the alleged txt msgs. The majority are good blokes on and off the pitch and you will find that they are dissapointed at not winning the league (especially when you think that they beat Knights three times) not too many will begrudge knights for thier success. The two clubs are very similar in that they had long standing players and committee members working thier butts off for years to finally achieve some success.
Three times this year you beat the Knights and what did that give you sweet nothing.Who cares anon 00:28 who beat who.It didn't take long before Ranger people started to bring it up,and James keep up the good work over there mate this league win is yours aswell mate.
MAY I congratulate the Knightson teir winning the League which they obviously thourally deserved.

what a season!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the Prospect Knights on their maiden premiership. Throughly deserved, had the consistency so sorely lacking in the past 2 seasons.
Congrats also to the Devonport Strikers as well as the Northern Rangers (nice work with 8 wins in a row). And to Ulverstone for making the top 4.
Now show the southern teams a clean pair of
heels, boys

Can I also add, the game has really changed in the last 5 or 6 seasons.
ReplyDeleteUp until 2005 City and Devonport would have finished 1 and 2 every season.
Since 2005 we have had Somerset win the league twice, Rangers twice with Devonport in 08 and Knights this season.
I am not involved with Rangers however they have achieved the most in a short period however, only coming into the comp in 1999.
Well done Adam for going up to Knights and congratulating them on their victory.
