Question and answer time

We are 5 rounds in and some great questions are being asked around the clubs and answers would be great.
Here are a few I have heard and a few I have my self.
Should the NPL go independent, saving clubs thousands of dollars and have a ship load of players return due to Regos being cheaper?
Will the V League last after it's 3 years?
Will Devonport last after it's 3 years?
If a club is dominant in the NPL-SPL should they be asked to form a 10 team V League?
Will Kaimon Johmson win the George Dale again?
Will Brendan Litchtendonk line up for Ulverstone next year?

Here are a few, if any one has any topics bring them up!!!

  2. Here are my opinions and thoughts to your questions.

Should the NPL go independent, saving clubs thousands of dollars and have a ship load of players return due to Regos being cheaper?

Yes it would be a great way for players and especially young players to continue playing, i know a lot have troubles affording the rego once they leave the parents nest or become more independent not to mention the cost of getting into grounds, travel and the like which is all part of it...and a good part at that. However there would be a lot of hurdles and people will have to be employed to run it and deal with all the behind the scene activities.

Will the V League last after it's 3 years? I think yes, how ever i think there will be, if things continue as they are, a large difference in quality of the top few clubs to the rest. Due to cashed up clubs and the like.

Will Devonport last after it's 3 years? I think Dev are a good club and have quality players, i think if they want to stay in the V league they could but whether they can afford to continue and deal with other clubs buying up all the top players is another issue.

If a club is dominant in the NPL-SPL should they be asked to form a 10 team V League?
I think it comes down to the individual clubs, whether they want it and whether the players want it.

Will Kaimon Johmson win the George Dale again? Will be in good stead for the medal i think with performances thus far, but you never know this early in the season.

Will Brendan Litchtendonk line up for Ulverstone next year? We will just have to wait and see.

  3. No need for the NPL to go independent as the V league will cease after next season. Rangers have indicated they will not be applying for fourth season as they believe the cost to great and it leaves resources/volunteers to thin. Once this happens Devonport will have an easy out, leaving only Juventus in the mix from the North. The idea of a ten team competition is nonviable as the travelling cost and need for more sponsorship would be far to great for Tasmanian Football to sustain and the playing stocks are to thin. Young striker from Riverside to win the George Dale goes very well. Litchendonk careless.

  4. Cheeky Sam..
I worked with the old Northern Combined League which had Paddy and Enid Baker as treasurer and secretary, it seemed to work very well and we had nearly $10,000 in the bank when we merged with Tas Soccer. However it does need people who were as committed as those two. I liked the process that the presidents pretty much made the decisions on how the league ran, they met monthly and could keep a tight rein on how things went. It should be noted that as for costs it is only $125 for adult registration, the team entry costs are what make it so expensive.
Victory League will continue, I know Devonport and Rangers are hurting but I believe that FFT will make the necessary adjustments to make sure they remain as part of VL. I believe that we produce a better quality of player in the North of the state and therefore the northern teams will always be competitive despite the big money down south.
Despite FFT's efforts I don't believe that VL will go 10 team, but if it does it will only help the 3 northern teams that will be in it.
KJ will have a great season but the Sharks have now got several players taking votes off him and this may let some other players have a better chance. My pick is Elliott Stewart, he is dominating the Shark defense at the moment.
Would be great to see the Donk line up down here, his passion would help all the coastal clubs.

  5. Great questions sam, all I can say is there are a lot who want the NPL to be independent. I would put my hand up to help out. As you say Nigel it does not take much. All we would need would be a president,secretary/tresurer and a sponsor mediator. It would be a part time thing as more hands make light work. I know every one would be happy to pay $125 to play.
WE DO NOT NEED FFT IN THE NPL. It can't get any worse. Something should start very soon to be ready for 2015

    1. Look there are other issues that need a lot of thought, referees for one. I'm not sure if the Referee's Association stands separate of FFA/FFT. Whether they would support the league might be interesting. Also there may be an issue with players from clubs that try for state teams not being eligible. I know this was thrown at me several years ago when I mooted the idea. It would have to be without the VL clubs as I don't believe that FFT would allow them to join. Like I said there would need to be a working party of educated people to list out all the steps that you would need to overcome.

  7. Wow FFT's decision to open the transfer window will make for some interesting moves as fringe players may try their luck elsewhere and money may flow to entice others.
