2013 Victory League Transfers

Now that all non Victory Leagues teams have finished their games for this NPL season, news and speculation of players moving will now become more prevalent.  The first big announcement involves Nick Owen along with 3 of Ulvie's best, Brayden Mann, Ben Foote and Joel Stone joining Devonport, further strengthening their squad. Share you news, and speculation here.

  1. I think that now tasmania has a standard to reach bigger than a split top division, it will create a much better spectical, and quality of football.
with the more gifted players moving to a club where they can work along side players of same high standard, the victory league will be up there, maybe not straight away, but definitely in the right direction for what the state needs,
Looking forward to quality highlights next year watching from the uk!

  2. Quality signings all round there.

I’m just eager to find out what signing City make in the not too distant future come pre season training at the start of October.

  3. Devonport on the front foot! Good to see.

It might sound like a negative point but I'm also interested to see which players leave clubs in the Victory League to play for clubs in the NPL/SPL. I realise that obviously a lot of players at Rangers/Dev/City who are curently in the senior team will not be come the start of 2013 and will ultimately play in the NPL anyway...but the question is, how will players feel who have been at the club for many years when they are thrown to the side for new signings?

City clearly need an overhaul, they have a good coach who brings a good game style but they will need the players to be competitive - it won't take too long for players to get sick of travelling 5 hrs, once a fortnight and getting flogged to become disheartened!

Bit surprised at the moves from Ulv to Dev. Thought those guys would've looked further south...

  4. Why would the Ulvie guys want to go South? After all Dev is representing the Coast. So i think its great that they are staying on the Coast. It should strengthen the ties between Burnie, Somerset, Ulvie and Dev. The best part of Dev is they aren't looking at 'poaching' players out of their region and nor should others. For the sake of our youth, hopefully clubs follow their paths and look at home/area talent before buying/poaching other areas kids.

  5. If you live and work on the Coast, with friends and family nearby and want to play soccer in the best league in Tassie, why wouldn't you take up an opportunity to play with the only Coastal team in the Victory League?! Seems pretty logical to me. Good luck to the Ulvy boys.

  8. Obviously these anonymous posts don't know me at all. I was asked to play with south Hobart this year and moved down which unfortunately didn't work out so I spent the majority of the season travelling at my own expense just to train once a week and play. I lost thousands of dollars this year to play and learn from a great coach. We play the type of football I like and the club was amazing to be involved in. At no point was I offered a 'deal' so I doubt I will be looking for a deal.
As for this next season I haven't decided where I am playing. I have a few different options and will decide accordingly with what the club structures and junior development is like. I have been approached by devonport but they kindly backe off due to my wishes. As my team is still playing. Once this week is over I am as much a free player as anyone. But while I am still involved in the teams season I wot be making any rash decisions.
I am aure you will all know when I make a decision but I don't appreciate anonymous people questioning my reasons for playing as I doubt there are many players that would travel every week to quite simply learn more about the game.

    3. Funky, Would love to be running around but still not allowed to play after I fractured my heel in four places 4 weeks ago. It's horrible. But will be there watching the lads.

  9. I am interested in knowing what Greg Duffy will do next year. Also wondering what Mcarragher (state side + Riverside captain), Rigby (18 year old mid/striker), Baker (11' George Dale), Cristy (high potential striker at River 19), Nick Lanau Atkinson (mid/striker @ River age 18) will do.... Duffy is a classy defender and like Bobby (good on ya mate) has been travelling to Hobart regularly to play and learn. We'll find out after this weeks final I suppose.
