    1. To be fair, your results didnt realy warrant a tip in your favour, but congratulations on the win all the same.

  8. Who the hell are Juve?

Thats right a team that havent won a title since 2005

    1. Yeah fair enough there hasn't been alot of success over recent years.....I agree with you on that point.

City's last title was in 2005 and prior to that 2001. Add to that Statewide cups in 2005 and 2007. Over a dozen northern premierships. City has a strong record and proud history dating back to 1958 when they were known as Launceston Juventus......that's where the "juve" comes from.

All at City are focussing on rebuilding in an effort to hopefully get us back to a position to challenge the clubs who are currently at the top of the league.

We certainly don't believe we are anyway near there yet, so I don't think anyone is "chirping" .

But we are satisfied with the results in recent weeks across all teams and we are looking forward to building on recent performances.

Best of luck to all teams for the rest of the season.

    2. We didn't win it in 2005 TR, lost to Glenorchy Knights. But we won it in 2004 against Uni =D
Were in the final 2002 lost to D'port? Won it in 2004 against Uni, 2005 lost to Glenorchy, 2006 lost to Uni finally winning it again in 2007 against Somerset.

  9. Hi Twang, does the premiership medal around your neck still make you feel better? I tried looking at the Juve trophy cabnet, but found it did nothing for me after a loss as it was in the past, this however is the present

    1. I was thinking the same. twangs (tool, twit, whatever) attitude is the reason why Knights may have to wait another 50 odd years for another one. City had to learn the hard way that they couldn't rest on past achievements with several years at the bottom but look out they will have a say in the second half of the season as to who wins it this year!

    2. Took city a long time to learn the hard way, and by looking at the ladder looks like they still are

  10. You have won one game City, whats this Juve shit.

Congrat on your win, but I wouldn't go crowing yet, these things tend to go around and bite you.

    1. Thanks for the Congrats anon and I agree city should not get too far ahead of themselves. I can assure you, those within the club certainly aren't.

I do take issue with your comment on the "juve" piece. You must be too young to understand the history of Launceston City or football in northern Tasmania!

Before City had to change its name the club was known as Launceston Juventus....that's where the Juve connection comes from.

  11. If your going to get personal and have a go at a club up you might as well put your name to it .

    ReplyDelete
  12. I dont see anyone crowing from City (Juve please) putting their name down.

Its a good win, but Knights hardly playing like they did last year.

We shall see how City go in the second half of the year, however you have drawn with Lonnie along with Somerset twice, wouldnt say one result has turned it around for you.

And you wont be playing finals next year.

  13. From what I heard city outplayed knights and could have scored at least a couple more, although it has to be said they haven't won many games this year. They have however performed well in patches in most of there games, at least the ones I've seen. Could be a sign of the youngsters finally getting a full 90 minutes of good football together, and who knows could still have a say and help shape the top four this year, and possibly push to be in it next season.

Any news on who has applied fron north??

  18. You would think the only teams that can are Rangers, Laun City, Devonport & Prospect as they are the only ones with facilities up to scratch. Proper changerooms, undercover areas to spectate & are sound financially i imagine.

    ReplyDelete
  19. No disrespect to launceston city, but Annon 15:32, their change rooms would have to be one of the worst change rooms in the state. Yes the have a great new club room but the change rooms were built and designed when the arch was still about.

    Replies
    1. Gee Sam that's a bit harsh! I'd consider some might say they are better than at Olympic, Launny United and up until recent times Rangers. I agree they are a bit dated but considering they were built in 1978 when we moved to Prospect at least they are roomy and you get a decent shower!

      Delete
    2. Fair call T.R, as I said it was never a dig at city nor was it to bost any other club. But going by what annon 15:32 said. It sound like one of the areas that had to be met were facility's. I personally believe you guys have one of the best grounds in the state along with your new club rooms but, and my opinion doesn't count for much but I thought city's change rooms need updating

      Delete
    3. No worries Sam. An update to the change rooms is on our to do list, but I doubt it'll get done this year! As TD says below, we've all got areas in which we can improve in, but as you know it all takes time and money.

  20. Sorry tht we haven't had a make over from the Meander Valley council!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Apart from Rangers and Devonport, Somerset has some of the biggest undercover seating and decent changerooms, Prospect has arguably the best of all clubs in regards to clubrooms, changerooms and money but only one ground? every club has room to improve something even Dev whos visitors changerooms are a little small but i think the 4 named are the only real contenders in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I highly doubt teams will apply for T League because they have "nice Changerooms". the teams that apply will be the teams that have a spare $10000 laying around and the financial backing to be able support particpation in the league. Which ultimately could be the downfall of the league if the wrong teams are chosen

  23. I know I should be writing my reply directly under the anonymously made comments directed at me but because they are right at the top of the page I feel that perhaps it won't be read...then what would be the point!
To be honest I was a little surprised when I heard that Juve defeated Launceston Croatia/ Western Suburbs but 3-0 sounds like a decent drubbing, knights second for the year. Anon 23 June 21:15, after playing for knights who struggled at the foot of the ladder for the majority of the 20 odd years I have been associated with the club (l'ton Croatia) seeing the 2011 medal on my wall does make me feel a little better, I just wonder whether u played a part at all in ANY of the trophies ( of which there are plenty) in "Juve's" cabinet. As for this season, apart from a win over knights, City has done NOTHING yet and will probably end up with exactly that at the end of the yr (perhaps what knights will end up with too). As for anon 23 June 22:34 (its much easier to reply to a name so put it on here!) predicting the future is far more toolish than anything I have said on here - city might get a couple more wins but as for getting close to genuinely good sides like rangers, ulvie (at full strength) and Devonport, I'd be betting against that! As for my "attitude" on this blog, I dont see how that has anything to do with the clubs success or lack thereof but if u want to reply with your name this time then maybe u can enlighten me.

Bottom line, every club wants success over a long period of time, the reality is that it's hard to do. rangers may have found the formula but I think a lot of other clubs are miles away and will experience very little to no success at all. Glad I got my medal tho!

Ps. T League will flop! North Vs North-west rep game should be looked at tho. I'd go watch the best players from rangers, PKFC, river, city and utd play the best from Ulv, dev, sset and burnie.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Twang wouldn't you like to play city one more time mate?As for titles won i bet the one's that dev, rangers, knights and river won didn't cost as much as city's have, and that is fact or should i say SAV payed also at the moment if city get players from other clubs they offer subs and boots, that's way that club runs and always have ran.Yes they have got a few young one's but how long can the older one's stay on for and not win anything.

  28. I am still amazed at the shit fligging that some peanuts wish to continue on here at individuals ! myself was hit with heaps last year and look at what that did !

Sean Harris has been a great player and clubman to our club and a bloke that has the ablility to be a Pro golfer it is a constent battle to keep him in the game.

Its a shame more people dont show as much passion for the game and club as Sean does.

So if we want passion in our sport STOP your dribbling shit to bring people that show that down !

Fine have you banter but post your name !

I for one will never stop my continued suport for the Game and my club and will always put my name behind any I do, Right or Wrong!

now I look forward to my snipers

  30. Agree. I know for a fact 2 players from my club and offered money by City to play.

They both refused as they have some loyalty.

I also agree with Anton, its fine to have a bit of a stir as long as it isnt personal.

  31. Really interesting reading all these comments. My background was in a different sport over many years and I would make 2 observations about this wonderful competition; spending money you don't have will see you go the way of Red Hills, Westbury, Exeter, Cressy, Hagley, St Mary's, and I could go on, and secondly, while everybody enjoys their own success, you're all nothing without good robust competition.
