Launceston and Devonport ground closures

The Meander Valley Council have shut Prospect Park,Mitsubishi Park and Winsdor Park for the weekend, Resulting in all NPL and V League game supposed to be played are now catch up games at the end of the year, this also includes the WNPL.
I'm not sure about NTCA yet but will post when found out...
Also the Devonport V Burnie games have now been cacelled as well.
Its pretty pathetic, That in my 25 years of soccer this is the first time it has happened to me. I thought we played a winter sport. Just shows how hard our coucil's really work on the pitches.
Instead of preparing and repairing lets just call games off.

  2. Completely agree with you, Sam. I'm bloody annoyed. I haven't been playing as long as you but I still have never seen this happen. I've played in games, that by the end of it, you couldn't see a blade of grass on the pitch - just a mud bath! Poor, poor, poor.

  4. Mmm it seems like just yesterday I was listening to a variety of comments on the "cow paddock" at Somerset, how players hated having to come down and play on such a poor pitch all caused by playing too many games on bad weather days, now you all want to wreck every ground just so you don't miss a week. Had we played this weekend and had the weather kept up then the grounds would be wrecked with still 6 weeks plus finals to go. I, and our groundsman, have spent hours working with the council over the past 8 months to get it right, council have spent bulk dollars on resurfacing and drainage, I don't blame them for wanting to protect their investment.

  7. Are Ulvie's 18s numbers a bit of a concern, or did they just have too many interstate for the Man U game? Either way, disappointing that we didn't see a few of their 16s given an opportunity. I'm just talking out of my hat now, but I don't think much of the lack of effort.
