  1. Heartbreak for Devonport after getting so close, proves though that South can be beaten.

  2. Get along to Shark Park on Saturday and support 2 great matches. Somerset v Ulverstone in both the Under 16's at 12.30pm and the NPL seniors at 2pm.
    Should both be top games

    1. I can confirm that Devonport won the "League 1" Premiership with their victory on the weekend! Congrats to the boys!
Now, I find it interesting to note that, according to the competition requirements issued by FFT for next year, it appears that "League 1" will go back to being called the "Premier League Reserves".

  4. Which referee should get the Grand Final?

    1. Either Fishwick or Spicer.
But I bet they give it to Decani and that would ruin the day for The Reds and Somerset

    2. Would have to agree 100%. Mark and Spice are very much alike when it comes to being the man in the middle. Both don't get envilved with the game and are perfect in the way they see the game. Physical but fair. These two are a credit to referees and know how players want the game played.
      Keep it up guys.
One of these 2 surely for referee of the year too

  5. Fishwick??? What the. He is the worst ref ever!!!! He couldn't control an under 10's game

    1. Ha Ha. Sounds like anon 2339 might have got a yellow from me this year?? Every time the referee blows his whistle, half the players on the ground reckon he is wrong, cos the decision is against them! So we are always bagged, no matter what. Just part of the game!!
Simon Natoli has the final on Saturday, but just so you are not disappointed, David De Cani and I have the lines!!! Best of luck to Somerset and Ulverstone.
Hope that all the 'experts' (as well as the genuine fans) will pay their entrance fee and be at the game for the last hurrah of the season and to support our great game! Here's hoping we see a good crowd at the game to wrap up the season.

    2. Mark, sorry but if you kept up with the game we might not question your decisions. And usually both teams are stumped sometimes. Trust me

  6. Somerset would be happy with Fishwick. Def. not the man (sorry) for the job tho

  7. Oh that could be interesting, has any NPL match had Natoli this year. he may be a great V League ref, but if interprets the action differently to the NPL guys there could be problems.
Lets hope that the players adapt.
Personally I think that an NPL ref should have got the job, agreed Spicer would have been excellent, he has had a top season.
    Disappointing decision FFT.

    1. They do play the same game Nigel!

    2. Yep we all play the same game unfortunately they all referee it differently.
The other thing is that it's a shame that one of the usual NPL refs didn't get rewarded with the game.

    3. I think you will find that Simon has done quite a few NPL games this year.

He is a Top referee as he, like Spicer, actually treat the player with respect and know the names of the players.

I agree some players are their own worst enemy (coaches too), but the fact is that some referees are such power trippers that they will not allow any one to ask a question.

Both Simon and Spicer will talk to you in a respectful manner and therefore get respect back.

Perhaps some of the other referees should take note.

Good luck to all players and officials tomorrow. Hope its a cracker of a game.

    4. Totally agree!! This guy should be pm

  8. Fishwick is the worst referee I've had in my time playing. Can't control a game and very inconsistent. Gets bullied into decisions easily. Natoli is a great referee and generally let's the game flow, isn't card happy and relates to the players well. Should be a fantastic game though, I'm backing ulvie!

    1. what a stupid comment, you obviously haven't played before last weekend. There are many far worse than Fishwick and not many in the NPL better.

  9. Why all the hate for Fishwick? Or is it just the same person with a vendetta complaining over and over again.

I know that there is a game this weekend, Sam...but how about a thread where people can chat about possible B&F and 'Coach of the Year' winners for the NPL and other leagues at the dinner next weekend?

Finally, is this weekend's game at Somerset?

  10. I think its great the game will have a 'neutral' referee. It takes out previous history that some players may have with refs throughout the year and puts all on par.

  11. Fishwick, best Ref in the NPL by a very large street in my book, and should have been rewarded with the job.
More importantly, how are both teams going to cope without their coaches who will ofcourse be attending the coaches conference in Hobart this weekend, along with the recomended 8-10 other coaches from each club? Throw in some accomodation and it will only cost you about $2,500, but as we have a player base of somewhere around 10 000 on the coast according to some Southerners, Im sure all 4 coastal clubs can afford it as we are all swimming in cash as well.(you'd think with 20 000 players up here we would have more clubs wouldnt you?)
Unfortunately, I have to cut my toe nails this weekend, so wont be able to attend, but might pop down to 'Button up Jumper Street' to watch the final instead

    Good luck to both teams

    Rocket
