  1. Just like to thank Nothern Rangers for the spread after the senior game, Frozen bread and cold sausages that took an hour to cook, just because you have a V League team doesn't mean you forget about your NPL visitors. Oh and we would have supplied half if not more of your gate takings.
Take a packed lunch for any one who has to play there.....

  2. Normally when you travel to Burnie all you get is a knuckle sandwich

  3. Burnie put on a very good spread.. its only fair that they get something in return.. But it doesn't surprise me..
Not one single Rangers player came into the bar when we played them..

    1. Fair call, but when most of your side is 16 or 17 years old, the coldie after the game isn't an option, and most are still surviving on pocket money and relying on a lift home with mum and dad. Just the way it is unfortunately. But if the bbq was crappy that isn't good enough. It is no excuse that 2 traveling outfits need to be fed in the same day either. Should have given Burnie the good stuff and put South Hobart on the bus with a cold pie.

    2. Sorry, but that's not an excuse.. no one said they had to have a beer.. They can have a soft drink etc.

Its more the attitude of some clubs. They don't want to go in and support other teams.

    1. As president of Burnie united I would like to reply to the afternoon tea incident , as we at Burnie put on a fantastic spread it was very disappointing to have to wait 1 hr after the senior game to then get sausages in frozen bread with no northern rangers committee or senior players to give after match speach , yes there was a victory league game on but be realistic we played 3 games of football at your ground . Maybe sausages in bread for your visit next year .

    2. As president I think u would have bigger issues to worry about such as installing some discipline into your disgraceful club

  7. Let's be honest, eatings cheating. I played for over 10 years and as I recall the sole purpose of a bus trip is to get as blind as you can and fall off the bus

  8. Gee, making this food thing a bigger deal than it is aren't we? They obviously had more important things on their mind

  9. Whilst I understand our boys for complaining for as far as I know Burnie usually put a good spread,I would also suggest that airing in public does not help.A friendly complaint to the club for the sake of good relations would have been much more productive.
Rangers are a good and friendly club and as humans we all do wrong things at different times.
So let us forget this and move on.

  12. After match socializing has been part of our league since day 1, due to the long travel it has been customary for home clubs to put on some nibblies for the travelers, unfortunately the Victory League has put a new slant on this. In previous posts I have highlighted the lack of travelling support and even playing numbers when VL teams visit NPL clubs.
To VL clubs we are now 2nd Division, get used to it, however we have a strong competition that will survive the changes.
I hope that teams and supporters will continue to socialize in the same spirit that we expect ourselves to.

    1. Why does it always come back to V-League??? How has 3 out of 9 clubs put a new 'slant' on nibblies after a game. Get each player to bring a plate of something....It's not that hard or expensive.

    2. Couldn't agree more Ben, some clubs like ours make it a sure thing at least seniors bring a plate

    3. That's your problem, like most VL players, you don't understand the difference VL has made to the other NPL clubs, you are looked after with all your officials provided, guaranteed, travel is so easy with the buses provided by FFT, why don't you contact Red Line and ask what the "special price" for NPL teams that want to use them is. You get the biggest crowds to every game and all preferential treatment on when and where you play.
It has changed Ben, and will continue to do so. As I said we have lost a significant part of our income stream with 3 out of 8 games.
I predict that this will probably be the last year that an NPL club wins the NPL premiership, I would naturally expect the VL teams to begin to dominate once their squads mature and develop over the years.

    4. I don't doubt those things, but we are talking about bringing some food after the game.

    5. Nigel really? Instead of knocking the V league and everything else, why not try and move on and support the current players and staff that work with the NPL. How many Aussie rules leagues are there around this state? I can't be exact but I would think there would would be over 20! And Im sure that every player that for example plays in the NTFA league, whether div 1 or 2 would give 100% every week and train hard to win the premiership. They do not blame the TSL. Players choose to play for that league, maybe cause they're not good enough or commitment reason such as work or family. A premiership and success is a lifelong memory, no matter who you represent

  13. Nigel reminds me of Carolyn Wilson

  14. The NPL squads will never mature Nigel. They'll always be the young guys on the up. It is in the rules. And they'll always be disrupted by getting whatever V League players the senior coach lets them have. They will rarely have years of experience to do battle with. Just get your team a well organised supplements program and move on.
