Forestry Tasmania Northern Premier League Round 9.

Launceston United Vs Riverside Olympic
Prospect Knights Vs Burnie United
Somerset Sharks Vs Launceston City
Ulverstone Vs Devonport Strikers
Some interesting fixtures again this week, without doubt match of the round will be Ulverstone Vs Devonport.  Can Ulverstone shoot out of the blocks again, or will Devonport continue to hold the upper hand on their coastal neighbours.  Ulverstone have been clinical against the lower teams this year, but with the exception of Prospect, struggled to put away the top end, Devonport have been pretty consistent but both need the win, Ulverstone particularly, having to serve two byes in the second half of the year.  For me Ulverstone are starting to shape as the big threat in the second half of the year.
Prospect should be too strong for Burnie, and this will be a good opportunity to rebound after a slow couple of weeks, a fine come back from the Knights against Riverside to earn a point, perhaps proving their fitness is getting back to the level it needs to be.
Sharks and City will be a ding done battle, last round a one all draw, but Somerset have galvanised themselves in the last week, and could well give City a touch up at Shark Park if City are not up for this one.  Both need the win to get stuck into the second half of the year and provide a platform from which to launch one final tilt at the finals spots.
Launceston Vs Riverside Olympic could go either way here also, Riverside almost put a horror couple of weeks behind them before a late comeback from Knights, Launceston are up and down like a yoyo this year, depends which teams turn up to play, first round was a 2-1 win to Riverside.  Riverside need the win to keep in touch with the top four, no doubt Launceston will view the fixture as a real chance to notch up win number 2.  One question a lot of people are asking is, where is Thors Niemly?

  6. Listening to the Donk on ABC radio yesterday afternoon, apparently Ulverstone have Meaney and both Conkies out for this game, along with Keep gone for rest of year. Hard outs to cover against a good side like Devonport.

How I see it, if they lose, Ulvie would have to win their next 7 and hope that Port and Rangers lose 2 each.

We shall see. Shaping for a good finish yet agai
