Todd Hingston heads for Northern Rangers.
Devonport and Northern Rangers took  advantage of the Prospect Knights slip up, away to Ulverstone and went clear of the pack by  2 points and 1 point respectively on the NPL Table.
Devonport overcame a stubborn Launceston United, defeating the them 3-1 at Valley Road, but not before an early scare following Launceston’s Aiden Rigby’s goal after 10 minutes when he chipped the keeper to put his side in front.
Devonport responded and controlled the game later though, scoring three unanswered goals thanks to Chilcott, Mulraney and Lizotte
Rangers also got a fright from the winless but proud Burnie United.  Despite Burnie having some players play in their third game of the day, they put up a good fight, and only tired legs failed them in the end.
2 all at half time thanks to a second minute goal from Luate for Rangers, a penalty conversion from Andy Gibson, then a one on one off the feet of Patty Lanau-Atkinson before Burnie scored just before half time.
But the Rangers kicked into gear in the second half,  Luate added to his first half efforts and contributions from Hunt (2) and Mark Ambrose rounded out the 6-2 score line.
Ulverstone restored their season in sensational fashion downing Prospect Knights in a surprise but decisive 6-0 win at home.  Shane Conckie opened the scoring before Brayden Mann put his stamp on the leagues golden boot award netting 5 to help his town to a big win.
Riverside and Somerset shared the spoils in another surprise result, and this will make life very difficult for the Riverside outfit in the title race.
All first half goals to Nick Lanau-Atkinson before Jimmy Nettleton replied, Ryan McCarragher restored the Riverside lead but Casey Eaves spoiled the party with the final goal of the half and game.

    1. If you are talking about NB, he only played a half and was injured through the first half. wasn't one of knights bad players. thought their full backs were terrible on Saturday and crosswell, baker and cocks didn't create much.

  13. Don't know why so many people are bagging out knights, yeah a bad game but they are still last years premiers and will most likely be there abouts at the end of the season.

  14. More anonymous comments! Please be brave enough to stick a name to your post! Did Ulvie play out of their skins? or Knights play badly or a bit of both?

  15. Here are my thoughts of the ulvie knights game, ulvie had 7 chances and scored 6 goals. That is a great finish rate. In the first half knights had more of the ball but could not convert. Three softer goals were scored in the first half, but they are still goals. 1st goal beardo had a shocker and let the ball pass under him. Goal 2 was a penalty and goal 3 was a scramble after a brilliant save from beardo. As for the second half the game opened up and ulvie created more chances and finished off to a tee. As for crosswell bakes and cox not doing much I think that call is a bit harsh. It's the most running and ball controll I have seen crosswell and cox do in any game I have seen either play. So to me, who was at the game.... Yeah ulvie deserved the win and will be a strong force in the second half of the season, the knights just had a bad day out and one to forget one would think.

  16. I have just read this rubbish and all I can say is keep it up as it is clear you either know nothing about football or your brain cant hold any memory or both!

Ulverstone deserved its win as much as devonport didn't deserve to lose last game. But hey we will continue to fight on and if we don't win it we will make sure we affect the result!

Your blokes that want to kick clubs or people when they lose or down are a good example why AFL will crush our sport and then where will you be? Ow that's right dribbling crap in the crowd at a AfL game .

And just to conclude 5 goals to Mann was a great effort but he had a lot of support to help him .

Knights beaten by a better side on the day and may well be a better side full stop but hey we not even half way.

Ps why would knights people chat on here when we were flogged, what would you like us to say!

  17. Competition pretty disgraceful when Mann can score 5 goals against teams and he's not even that great of a player think state league is a wrong decision having played in it there is no progress the last 5 years the competition has got worse and worse

    2. Disagree with the Mann remark but 100% agree with the state league one. The two Hughes boys from riverside, sessay and duffy from knights, luck, schipper, nicolson and pooly from rangers, beachy and throup from city, the johnson boys plus a few others from burnie and you could add mckenna to that list as he has hardly played this year. The above players would all have been in the best 20 players in the league last year. 13 missing out of 20 is a massive amount of talent to be lost and it shows. I hate to say it but the northern league is a very poor standard and any team in a state league will be pumped.
Ulverstone are arguably the only team that has improved this season. The others have gone backwards.

  18. Ulvie were exceptional on Saturday, moved the ball very quickly all over the ground and knights just not not find a way back into the game after it got out of our reach. Credit where credit is due, were much better on the day which seems to be the norm for how the season is going, if you're off you'll get beaten. And why can't Mann score 5 goals, if I recall we had a player last year that if had taken every chance could have scored over 60 for the season. Good players and good teams take their opportunities!

  19. well mann not that great of a player, seems like if you are not from certain clubs you arnt a great player and neither are the other 14 players playing along side him but hey they just might be a great team!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Mann is the best striker in the competition. To say he is not that great of a player is absolute rubbish. and both ulverstone and knights are good teams, ulverstone obviously had a good day out but knights will bounce back.

  21. A few fairly scathing comments have 'slipped through' ey. This is my first read of the blog since Saturday as I (and many of my teammates) have been licking my wounds after a very poor game from knights( I was available and did play, not that the team would've been any worse off without me). Thankfully the healing process was made easier by being able to look at the 2011 premiership medal hanging on the wall ( something that a lot of bloggers DON'T have!). As we are now in 2012 and ulvy has just handed us a flogging - which I'm sure all non-knights are happy about - we will look forward to next wk and attempt to get our season back on track as it is well and truly not over yet. I'm not sure where the 'mentally weak' tag has come from but clearly that anonymous blogger has very little idea what he's/she's talking about! Too many other comments to respond to, so I'll leave it at that. Look forward to seeing what Riverside has to offer on Saturday! And what other rubbish is written on here...

  23. Mann the best striker hahahahahahahaha, I have had my laugh for the day. Maybe he should go back to south like the rumor says.
Give me Luate, Hunt, McKenna or Ambrose any day over Mann even Chris Smith is a better striker than Mann.

    1. Mckenna is the only you would take. So why are you laughing ??? He has scored 15 goals this year the three rangers blokes have 15 between them ? Some
would say they are not fit enough to wash his clothes let alone take the best striker tag away from him. With three rangers player named above anyone would think this came from the rangers camp?? Haters Gonna Hate

      Delete
    2. Mann is better than all them this season. Sounds like jealousy, least he made a senior team down south, the best team down there. a guy who has scored 15 goals in the league in 7 games. not a bad effort.

Id be happy to supply you with the IP address's from a few accounts that post both with a account and then as anounymous, then you would really know who is posting some of this rubbish. For what its worth, I think you will find Mann and Ulvie have plenty
